Beauty in Brokenness
A series of paintings in collaboration with Christina Carroll Begian
June - October 2018
The theme of this show, "Beauty in Brokenness", was inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
Kintsugi, which means “golden seams”, is a Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with a mixture of gold and resin. The repaired pottery is literally seamed with gold, and is stronger, more precious, and more uniquely beautiful as a result of being broken.
We all have stories of brokenness, and this series explored a variety of expressions of fragility and redemption through semi-abstract, semi-figurative paintings.
